10 February 2017
Iddy, you told us the other day that when you were little someone told you that the reason white people have long noses is because they tell lies;) You also said you used to pinch your nose to imitate white people. Papa told me there was an Australian guy in your village for a while that you used to be friends with. Wish we could find him and let him see what an amazing boy you have grown into. I met with your Turkish teacher yesterday for lunch, and she said the nicest things about you. She said you were different than all the other kids in your class, but in the best way. She said it was obvious that you loved your family and that you were proud of us. She said when you talk about your mom or your dad your eyes light up. She told me that when she first met you she wanted to talk to you and find out why you were different, but then she saw you and us together, and then she understood. Of course this made me so very proud. Yesterday I went to eat lunch with Ruth-Michael and you were there but I was not expecting for you to sit with us because I thought you might be embarrassed, but you just sat right down and we had a great time. You are full of confidence. I think the other kids teased you some about me being there but it didn't seem to bother you too much. You will be in Kisumu for the next five days with Papa. I will miss you so very much! You are such a huge source of joy and friendship and stability in my life.
