13 June 2017

Iddy, here are some memories you have shared with us of your life before us. You know I love to record these whenever I can because it gives me back pieces of your childhood that I missed out on.

Once you thought at tin of Kimbo was Blue Band and you ate all that was left of it.
You used to love Jean Claude Van Damme.
You used to love to wear overalls, which were called "apiyo nade?" meaning "how will I poop?"
You used to play hot potato with your friends using live coals.
You once burned your hands sliding down a rope from a tree because you didn't know what rope burn was.

Iddy, you often help me get the girls to bed and I love it. If there are guests at the house, Papa usually stays with them and I take the girls to bed. You will join me and sometimes read them a story and sing songs with me. I think that it's so special when you do that. I love to hear your voice singing the bedtime songs. How many teenage boys would do that? Not too many. These are the qualities that make you so amazing. AJ loves for you to read the "faces" book to her.

You are wanting more freedom and more time with your friends. Papa and I don't always know how to handle that, and it has been a source of great conflict lately. We've decided to try to give you more freedom. You went to Mombasa to play football and when you came back you were so sweet, playing with your sisters, helpful around the house, enjoying the time with your family. I think you just need a break from us sometimes to help you enjoy being around us, which is totally normal. You came in second place at the football tournament and you are number one in your class for your marks. What makes us the most proud is when we see you serving others and being grateful for what you have, which you are learning to do very well.

You shared a verse in church on Sunday about fearing God and gaining wisdom from the book of Proverbs. You did a great job and I was so proud of you for being willing to do it!
